Became The Champion | Week 49
“It starts as a hobby, then you go compete and win big.” – Bryce Ward 4/10/2021
Over the past weekend, the 2021 Magic The Gathering Kaldheim Championship has come and went with Arne Huschenbeth winning it all. I must say congrats to Arne for getting through this season’s matchup of stiff competition. As an MTG player myself looking to win the Pro Tour one day, let’s take a look at the deck Arne used to win the Standard Kaldheim Championship.
Dimir Rouges
The deck Arne beat for the Kaldheim Championship is a black and blue Dimir Rouges deck. The deck’s goal is to out punch other decks before they can get their end-game strategy on the field. With counterspells like Drown in the Loach and Mystical Dispute, this deck can keep any tricks an opponent has off the board. Beyond leaving opponents second-guessing where the next counter is coming from, Dimir Rouges also sports mill cards. Cards like Ruin Crab provides a secondary win condition when you can’t punch through your opponent’s creatures and also serves to power up Drown in the Loach and creatures like Thieves Guild Enforcer.
Thank You!
Hey, thank you for reading this week’s post! I hope you found this week’s post interesting. If you want to check out the complete decklist for Dimir Rouges, you can see that here. In the meantime, I will build up my Dimir Rouge deck and keep grinding my way to the top! Did you watch the Tournament? What decks were you rooting for?
