The Wendigo | Week 68
“The greatest horrors come from myth as there is a hint of truth in them.” – Bryce Ward 8/21/2021
What is a Wendigo? The Wendigo is a supernatural monster given to us from the myths of Native Americans. Wendigos are created by travelers lost in the mountains and have been forced to consume human flesh. These cannibals lose their sanity and are possessed by an evil spirit with an all-consuming hunger. This hunger transforms these lost souls into malnourished monsters bent on consuming their former companions. From these myths, we have the founding of a terrifying monster that still strikes fear into the hearts of travelers. However, I can’t help but realize that the Wendigo was real and still hunts the most barren lands seeking the warm flesh of humanity.

Thank You!
Hey, thank you for reading this week’s post! The Wendigo is such a fascinating creature to me. Not for the terror it puts in the hearts of its prey, simply in the fact that these myths have some truth to them. What tales do you think are stories of actual events in history? Also, as a side note, starting next week, I will be holding off on posting blog posts for the rest of this year. I have many projects coming up soon, and I am starting to feel the burnout of writing every week. I’ll still be posting when I can; however, it won’t be every week. Once I get myself moved into my first house, I’ll take up blogging again.
